Easter egg painting used to be an activity for the whole family, but I’m not sure it’d be a good idea to introduce the youngsters to this new, budget-friendly variant.
… it’s possible to make a small hole in a real egg and remove the contents for use. With some careful handling, the shell can be dyed.
And the rest can be scrambled! Win!
But then you have to worry about the kids trying to make flash powder, because who didn’t want their own ninja smoke bombs at one time or another?
Notice that bit about “a real egg,” though? The quote is from an article about how potatoes, jumbo marshmallows, and even wooden or plush fake eggs are looking like budget options for Easter decoration, now that regular old eggs have doubled in price over the last couple of years.
Eggs used to be one of my staples, too, because they were cheap protein. But at least this story was good for a brief chuckle, with a lot less bitterness than when I spotted a dozen eggs in a convenience store for something like $12.79…
