Even fucking Notepad.

With this update, we are introducing the ability to write new content in Notepad using generative AI. The new write feature helps you quickly draft text based on your prompt, making it easy to start from a blank page or build upon existing content with AI-powered assistance.

Also, you’ll need to sign in with your Microsoft account and spend “AI credits” from whatever Microsoft subscription service you’re saddled with. No word on how long you’ll be able to use the non-AI parts of Notepad without a subscription…

Paint and Snipping Tool are also getting AI “features,” with Snipping Tool’s attempt at autosizing cropped screenshots being the least worst of the batch.

As someone who writes as a hobby, I (1) already didn’t use Notepad and (2) want to choose my own words and not have them chosen for me by spicy autocomplete, thank you very much.
