Is anyone surprised that a government that was in such a hurry to pretend to do something about federal deficit spending that it once accidentally fired its nuclear warhead maintenance department is now in such a hurry to pretend to do something about the supposed scourge of trade imbalances that it’s partially broken international shipping from a multitude of countries?

Me, neither.

Some strains of dictator see a benefit in cutting their victims off from the rest of the world. In this case, though, we’re being isolated by the sheer bungling stupidity of an administration run by and for an assclown. Not that it matters; sufficiently advanced incompetence is indistinguishable from malice.
