This evening, I not only broke my Windows 11 machine’s Bluetooth drivers thoroughly enough to require a restart, but I initially couldn’t restart because the system time was suddenly out of sync.
I did this damage by daring to SEEK A FEW SECONDS BACKWARDS ON A YOUTUBE VIDEO.
I sometimes get the same driver crash by toggling Bluetooth off and on again in an attempt to get the sound to stop crackling. “Luckily,” audio crackle happens less often now that I’ve made repeated deep dives into the power settings.
I’ve had these problems off and on ever since I bought this computer. That’s how I knew to save the work I had open and restart ASAP as soon as the sound cut out; I have a lot of experience with lesser remedies not working.
WHAT THE FUCKING FUCK, MICROSOFT.
While writing this, it occurred to me that I haven’t yet tried resetting the system time without restarting. If that works, it would be marginally less annoying… but whenever it happens, I’m more likely to think that carrying my laptop outside and pouring some gasoline over it would also be less annoying than dealing with this shit yet again.
And no, I don’t expect a future update to fix anything; these issues have been widely known for years, and Microsoft has been too busy stuffing as many subscription services and AI antifeatures into its products as it can to deal with them…
I’m not even disappointed any more; I’m just tired.
