9. The nothing


I woke up in the morning from a dreamless sleep, and I felt nothing. I felt nothing while I shaved, showered, and got ready. I had a cup of coffee and got no pleasure out of it.

I stepped outside, not having checked the weather, and found it bright but chilly. I didn’t react to that discomfort. I just put some music on, as usual, and didn’t have a reaction to that, either.

I was only mildly irritated by the fact that I had to piss and much of the center of town has no public bathrooms. That’s old knowledge, the unpleasant design that’s meant to repel people like me, and I didn’t dwell on it.

I was at work for a few hours before even the customers were able to irritate me…
