A trailer for Fortnite’s latest “battle pass” was temporarily copyright-struck off of Epic Games’ official YouTube channel… by Epic Games. Via Jim Sterling:

“…we’re not sure if an automated system which was supposed to be working in Epic’s favor just fucked up or if some troll just faked the appearance of being Epic Games and took the video down themselves. Both those situations have happened before…”

I’m going to guess that Epic Games copyright-struck itself; that’s the most likely explanation for how it was able to reinstate the video so quickly.

P.S. Sterling has been on the receiving end of YouTube’s copyright system before, so this story pushed his rant button hard. Stick around for two separate tangents on YouTube’s development and the relative worth of “battle passes.”
