The original story by VGC’s Chris Scullion was titled:
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided composer has released a collection of unused music from the game
…and my original reaction was titled:
…because the story had one link in it, and it wasn’t to the album, the artist, but to VGC’s “Mac gaming” page. For some reason.
Well, at some point in the last ten months, either Scullion or his editor fixed that; that “Mac” link is no more, and the story now has a nice, shiny Bandcamp embed. Much appreciated.
…wait. Wayback’s copy of the VGC story has the “Mac” link and shows an active Bandcamp embed.
What the hell? Was the embed just not loading the day I read the story?
I’m torn between “damn, I might have accidentally misled people” (for an honest error I can’t blame myself for, in a post that seven people have seen at time of writing) and “I guess it was a bad idea for them to entrust non-trivial info to a third-party embed” (which smells of unseemly amounts of deflection).
(I’m glad I guessed at a non-malicious explanation for the links originally being missing, and I’m going to have to think about how I use YouTube embeds for brief bits of snark…)
