In Malaysia, child-custody cases apparently also involve deciding what religion the children are going to believe.

Sure, the custodial parent is going to have a lot more influence over the children, but for an appeals court judge to literally order a religious institution to take the children off its membership lists is off-putting.

(Yes, I know Islam has a special legal status in Malaysia. That’s also off-putting.)
